Driving directions from Tampa International: Follow signs to take N Memorial Hwy to I-275 south. Take Exit 23B and bear right to take SR 595 west toward Treasure Island. Turn left on 66th St N, then continue on Pasadena Ave N, and continue on 75th Ave. Turn left on Gulf Blvd. Driving directions from St Petersburg/Clearwater: Turn left onto Roosevelt Blvd, then take Ulmerton Rd. Turn left on 49th St N, then continue on US 19 for about 6 miles. Turn right on 5th Ave N, then turn right on 66th St N. Continue on Pasadena Ave N, then continue on 75th Ave. Turn left on Gulf Blvd. Getting there: The best option from either airport is a shuttle van ($16–25; fees subject to change without notice), or a rental car. Getting around: A trolley (less than $5; fees subject to change without notice) runs the length of the beachfront, and is a good choice for jaunts up and down the beach. For other destinations, the best option is a taxi or rental car.

The resort’s 585 guestrooms are scattered among four buildings: the Jacaranda and the Breckenridge buildings both have seven floors, and the Poinciana and Hibiscus buildings each have three floors. All rooms have wicker furnishing and bright, tropical decor. Amenities include PlayStation video-game consoles, safes, and bathrooms with make-up mirrors. Guestrooms also have wet bars with refrigerators, microwaves, and toasters. The resort charges a daily fee for its Explorer Value Pass, which covers a variety of amenities including local, toll-free, and operator-assisted phone calls; use of in-room safes; and daily newspaper delivery.

Flying Bridge - This restaurant is housed in an authentic floating Florida "Cracker Cottage" that’s permanently docked over the Grand Island waterway, high enough for paddleboats to cruise under. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant has a casual menu including nachos, wings, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and tropical drinks. Bermudas - Casual and bright, Bermudas presents aged cuts of Angus beef, fresh Gulf seafood, and a great beach view. Open for breakfast and dinner, the restaurant serves a traditional breakfast buffet and an à la carte menu. Old Florida Shrimp Shack - Overlooking the resort’s waterway, the vintage Shrimp Shack serves its namesake dish alongside cold beverages. Palm Court - This elegant bistro is open for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, combining contemporary eclectic cuisine with traditional favorites, including beef, lamb, duck, chicken, seafood and pasta dishes. Guests dine indoors or out on a courtyard patio. B. R. Cuda’s - The menu at this beachfront sports bar includes a wide array of appetizers from chicken wings to chili-dogs as well as tropical drinks. Deli - Located off the Grand Palm Colonnade, the deli offers outdoor seating and sandwiches, salads, cookies, drinks, and snacks to go. Pizza Hut Express - Small, medium, and personal pan pizzas are served at this outlet. Tropic Treats Ice Cream Shoppe - Ice-cream treats items include homemade sugar cones filled with Working Cow ice cream or frozen yogurt. Salty's Beach Bar - This beachfront, open-air bar offers easy access for enjoying both beachside and poolside fun. Menu items include frozen drinks, sandwiches, and burgers. Seasonal live entertainment is also featured here.

Guest can wind their way through the resort's waterway on paddleboats and gondolas, passing white swans and Nile perch along the way. The lushness continues indoors, in the resort’s Grand Palm Colonnade, which has an extensive garden with two parallel rows of 23-foot-tall palm trees. Outside is a white-sand beach with cabanas and water sports. The resort has five pools, some for children, some for adults, and some for both. There are four tennis courts, a fitness facility, and a full-service spa. Recreational activities are offered for kids and adults. At bedtime, the hotel’s mascot, "Beaker" the toucan is available for tuck-in service. And the on-site business center has high-speed Internet access. In addition to the amenities at the Island Grand, guests also have access to all the facilities and amenities at the two neighboring TradeWinds properties, the TradeWinds Sandpiper Hotel & Suites and the TradeWinds Sirata Beach.

This resort is located on a seven-mile strip of white-sand beach and there are five pools and two spa tubs on the property. One pool is covered, two are family pools, one is adult-only, and the last is a children’s pool with a wading area. Also on site are a fitness center, four tennis courts, and a putting green. A wide variety of children’s activities are offered, including the KONK Club (Kids Only No Kidding); and everyone can participate in the recreational activities offered in the TradeWinds Action Zone (T.A.Z.). Golf, fishing, and other activities are located nearby. Guests may also use the recreational facilities at the two nearby (and affiliated) TradeWinds resort properties. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.
